As I promised, very delayed I know, but here is the arduino script for the laser activated game boy installation
I have tried to add as many annotations to the code as possible as when I was learning it was incredibly helpful when someone described what it is their code is doing, basically the code is comprised of Little-Scale’s LSDJ Clock code plus this post about getting faster analog reads. Any questions at all don’t hesitate to ask I am still learning but happy to discuss things.. The Schematic shoudn’t be to far behind but it is basically just Sensors + Potentiometer to Analog In’s and 8 Spliced Gamelink Cables out of the Digital ports (with all the nessecery ground and power wiring)
Install at Stones Corner Street Party!
The background noise was a bit overpowering which ruined the experience a little, also the lasers battery life is very limited so these are all things to look at for next time..
I think making small cubes for the lasers and sensors would be the best bet that way I can just sit them down and they are automatically positioned correctly… other than that I thought it looked really good
Will Upload script detail etc when I am closer to being finished .. but it seems it is going to work :)
I am currently working on an installation for Creative Cities initiative Brisbane. This will be first displayed at Stones Corner St Party on June 10th. Very Soon!! there will be a bunch of updates here of the project as it moves on..

For those interested it will be a motion activated sonic installation involving 4 lasers and 8 gameboys. When a Laser trip wire is tripped it will start playback on two gameboys, the idea is to spatialise gameboy music, giving the objects themselves a sound and space that is relative to the position of the participant. Spacialisation is something that in general does not exist within the very raw dry sound of chipmusic. On top of this interaction with the lasers will force people to move about and stand in different positions hearing the gameboys as individual sound objects within a larger sonic landscape.
